Privacy Policy

Simple Receipts ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application.
Simple Receipts is a fully on-device app. Your receipt data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it or enable iCloud Drive backup. We have no servers, no accounts, and no way to access your data.
Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. Simple Receipts has no user accounts, no login, and no server-side data storage.
Data Stored On Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device:
- Receipt images — Photos you scan of receipts
- Extracted receipt data — Merchant names, dates, amounts, tax information, and categories
- Notes and descriptions — Any notes you add to receipts
- Expense accounts — Account names you create for organizing expenses
Optional Features
- iCloud Drive Backup — If enabled, receipt images and structured data are saved to your personal iCloud Drive, managed by Apple under their privacy policy.
- Save to Photos — If enabled, scanned receipt images are saved to your device's photo library.
- Export — When you export data to CSV or JSON, you control where the file is saved or shared.
Data Processing
All receipt scanning and data extraction is performed entirely on your device:
- OCR — Apple's Vision framework (on-device)
- Data extraction — Regex-based rules running locally
- Apple Intelligence — On-device AI processing (iOS 26+, optional fallback)
- Tax rate lookup — Bundled data file, no network requests
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store payment information.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information. The app makes no network requests except:
- Loading the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy pages
- Apple's StoreKit for subscription management
- iCloud Drive sync (if you enable it)
Data Retention
Your data is stored on your device for as long as you keep it. Deleting a receipt removes it from your device. Deleting the app removes all local data. iCloud Drive backups persist in your iCloud account until you delete them.
Your Rights
- Access — View all your data in the app at any time
- Export — Export your data to CSV or JSON
- Deletion — Delete individual receipts or the entire app
- Portability — Export and take your data anywhere
Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
